about a year ago there was a thread on personal muses, bdvideoclips.tribe.net/thread...e6390e6
i thought it's be fun to revisit it and see how our muses have, or haven't, changed in a year.

Re: personal muses: 1 year later
Sun, June 14, 2009 - 5:18 PMthe first dvd i used was a cab dvd, but i didn't know that. i thought i was going to be a tribal girl to the end, but my last semester at college (i graduated may 08) i took a class in traditional bellydance because it was the only thing offered around my college. the more of it i did, the more i fell in love. so my muses have changed quite a bit:

Mon, June 15, 2009 - 11:06 AMI second Bozenka!! I've admired her for a long time. I highly recommend her performance DVDs, I find them endlessly fascinating, I see new things each time I watch. I don't see her ever not being someone I watch:

For more classical Egyptian, I've been watching the few clips of Katy I can find:

I've also been watching Elizabeth Strong lately:

Re: personal muses: 1 year later
Mon, June 15, 2009 - 3:59 AMIt's a good topic for it really keeps changing. Muses, hm, on my youtube account I collect what I think is a good interpretation of a musical piece, my last trouvaille being Amani Jabril to "El Hantour". Then there are close muses, the ones you see in person and that inspire you. My teacher Yaminah. There are the remote muses I know only from video. There remained only Dina, Lubna Emam, some Mona Said, some Nagua Fuad and some Naima Akef. And Jenna from L.A. for I study with her dvd and I love her crystal clear style and personality. And my co-muses from our troupe, the muse-ensemble ;-).

Last year I still was big into Saida, Maria Shashkova and Randa. I still like them but prefer the above.
