This is my very first drum solo, and my friend Krystle's first hafla, period(she is the one on the dumbek. She has only been taking lessons, and playing for 6 months!) This was taken at the Hip Expressions hafla in Clearwater fl.
I've been belly dancing for about 4 years now, and just started performing this year. This is my first drum solo, and really my first live performance upload. This is the beginning of a long fun journey of dance for me. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did performing it. I know it's not perfect, but it was really fun. I love the stage : )

Re: My very first drum solo
Mon, June 15, 2009 - 8:44 PMI really liked it. I liked that you had a lot of hip movement, and used your floorspace. Nobody is perfect, but honestly, I wasn't looking for imperfections. Even though it was hard to see your face, it was still obvious that you were having fun. The drumming was good, the dancing was good, and the audience enjoyed it. In my opinion, that's what constitutes a good performance.

Sun, July 12, 2009 - 9:10 AMI thought you did such a good job! Definitely having fun. And for someone who hasn't been performing very long, you certainly knew how to use your dance space and keep in touch with the audience--your facial expressions and eye contact were perfect. (I still struggle with eye contact and moving across my stage when I'm doing a choreographed piece, and I've been performing for a few years now!) ;)
