Not so long ago i really wasn't into male bellydancers - but this guy is astounding, if nothing else for being physically beautiful and balletic. As a painter, this is one body i'd love to have the chance to paint!

He reminds me a little of Farukh Ruzimatov with his looks and his body. Farukh is a Tartar. -

I posted a couple of his clips on one of the male belly dancers / Men of Middle Eastern Dance tribes...and was so surprised to get no response. It makes me really happy to see someone else appreciates him. :) -

Ballet is beautiful, but i don't think it shows scheherezade very well as it was a typical westerners view of the harem woman - not how the arabs wrote about her! -

Tue, June 24, 2008 - 5:43 AMEven though Ilhan is a Turk, I think, they probably both have Tartar blood (like Nurejev did too). Farukh is a Tartar. Even the faces look similar, and at one moment in the video when Ilhan has his hair open, he looks practically the same from far away. Naturally it is a Russian ballet version of Scheherazade, but they still spend a lot of time lounging around on the divans in harem pants and such, so you get the idea. And the colours of the costumes...my God. Looks like a rainbow with lots of blue in it, gorgeous.

Tue, June 24, 2008 - 2:22 AMYeah, samira, i found him accidentally on youtube - and thought why hadn't anyone posted him yet! You can see the classical training for sure, but compared to antoher dancer i saw recently who looks similar (can't remember what he's called i'll have to find him), he was leaps away. the other dancer was all looks and no talent.
