i saw a lot of things like that in Japan where they love the way roman letters look, and wright English words that make no sense on tshirts, bags, etc. very funny

Re: UH....?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 1:36 AMHmm! you all must be American, we used to call our cat pussy, it just means a cat here in the UK but we have become aware now that it means something else to you people accross the pond. I think the Spanish refer to it in their own language as a 'rabbit' don't they? but even that seems worse now considering the latest technology in toys!!! -

Re: UH....?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 6:18 AMMy Aussie parents refer to cats as pussycats and remember Puss in Boots?
However, the cat reference is the same in some languages. Le chat (masculine) in French means "cat", while la chat (feminine) in French slang means.... you guessed it. In German "mouchi" (spelling?) is the same thing- it's at "cute" word for cat as well as slang for the female anatomy. -

Re: UH....?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 9:34 AMIn German it's muschi. And it's a very antiquated name for cat. It now means pussy, in the vulgar sense. I think really only old people use it now. Stoiber, a Bavarian politician calls his wife this, and didn't understand why reporters started cracking up when he said it.
In the States, pussy used to be a name for a cat. I read Puss in Boots, I've listened to "What's New Pussycat" But here, pussy has gone the way of gay. It's now pretty much a vulgar word over here.
But who knows? Maybe it means something nice in Arabic.
